About me and my practice

I am genuine, warm, open, caring, compassionate, honest and non-judgemental. I understand how daunting it can be to take that first huge step to seek counselling. Once we meet online, I hope to alleviate your fears and anxiety by putting you at ease so that you will feel that you are in a safe space where you will be heard.
If you are feeling isolated and alone in your thoughts, it may help to reach out to a Counsellor. Your relationship with others may be affected or suffering. If it would help to have someone to listen to, someone who won't judge you, I am here for you.

I welcome clients of any age, gender, sexual orientation, culture or religion. There are no barriers to the potential of our journey together.

The process and success of counselling and talking therapy is based on the quality of our relationship, built on mutual trust and respect. Together we will explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. These may be blocking your ability to move forward. This can help you to understand the reasons for the confusion, worries and distress. This can also help you to understand your present and your past.

We can discuss using different strategies to enable you to move towards a more positive, rewarding and fulfilled way of being.

Experience

I have a vast experience of working with people of all ages, genders, diversities and cultures. It has been an absolute privilege being a Counsellor, working alongside my clients and sharing their unique experiences whilst being part of their journey towards positive change.

I have previously worked in the Police Service, Youth Service, and the Health Service. I have also worked as an Educational Mentor and Support Tutor, working with Children & Young People unable to cope with being part of the mainstream education system.

I have volunteered as a Schools Counsellor for Young Devon, where I worked together with young people who have been suffering anxieties caused by bullying, gender confusions, and family breakdowns.

I also work with young people in my private practice who experience low self esteem, social anxiety, and the pressures and uncertainties that they experience in their life at home, school, college and university.

I have also trained as a Cruse Bereavement Support Volunteer, and I now have a greater understanding of death and loss and what it can mean to different people.

I regularly study (CPD) Continued Professional Development courses relating to Counselling. I enjoy gaining new skills and information whilst maintaining my knowledge and enhancing my abilities which in turn benefit my clients.

I am an Affiliate Counsellor working with several companies through the EAP (Employment Assistance Programme)

I am a Specialist Mental Health Mentor, supporting University students with mental health, ADHD & Autism
